In 2025, the Oslo Brass Quintet celebrates its 10th anniversary with the CD release "Melodies of Stray - Norwegian Brass Music", premieres by Geir Lysne, Bjørn Morten Christophersen and the new children's performance MESSING. The ensemble consists of active freelance musicians with a broad artistic background based in Oslo. The quintet stands out with its unusual instrumentation - bass trombone instead of tuba - which gives it a distinctive sound. The repertoire ranges from classical brass quintet literature to contemporary music, with a particular focus on original music and commissioned works from Norwegian composers. Over the years, the ensemble has worked purposefully to show the breadth and flexibility of the brass quintet, and regularly collaborates across art forms.
